To Build a Prison

The cries of oppressed nations,
Prisoners of this capitalist dream –
Where did they come from?
This elite imposing their designs
Upon the multitudes –
At one hand, offering faux prosperity –
At the other,
Death
of nations, cultures, communities,
Families,
Lives.
Feeding into a system to fuel
Both this clouded menagerie
And to shore the ceiling
Separating Us from Them…!

How perfect the prison
of Comfort.
Comfort,
and the race to secure
– the aching need to attain –
advertised affluence.
